Wall stability depends on product weight, center of gravity, plug geometry, pin tolerances and the wall socket. This test framework is designed to evaluate how a travel adapter sits, tilts and retains position in representative outlet conditions.
Observe insertion feel, seating depth and whether the product sits squarely against the socket.
Observe visible downward rotation or separation from the wall under the product's own weight.
Evaluate whether the plug remains inserted during normal cable connection and handling.
Compare results across representative new, typical and worn socket conditions where available.
| Variable | Why It Matters |
|---|---|
| Product weight | Higher mass increases turning force. |
| Center-of-gravity distance from wall | Greater distance increases leverage. |
| Body thickness | Thicker bodies often move mass farther from the socket. |
| Plug geometry | Pin dimensions and tolerances influence retention. |
| Socket condition | Worn contacts can reduce holding force. |
| Cable loading | Attached cables can add side or downward force. |
A flatter product can reduce the distance between the product mass and the wall. This may reduce leverage and improve wall balance, but only when total weight, plug geometry and socket retention are also considered.
